Art to Earth
Tibeb Badebabay (Street Art Project) 2020
Because of our condensed living conditions and rapid urban development, we are exposed to various man-made environmental pollutions, which have led to unprecedented fluctuations in today’s climate change, on top of sewage, visual, and sound pollution.
In this project, we ask questions to random passersby concerning a healthy climate or urban development and encourage them to put their ideas into a written, drawn, or painted format, then motivate them to perform their idea in front of a green screen background. While the participants perform, we take snapshots using a stop-motion app and put their written or painted ideas on a keyed-out background, then export the final video for various social media distributions. This public interactive project seeks to examine and remind our community of its common understanding of climate change and environmental development.

Stop Motion Animation (sma)
workshop 2019/20
This group Stop-motion animation video is made during a voluntary workshop that took place from Dec. 6 to Jan. 24 2019/20 at Col. John C. Robinson American Center under National Archival and Library Agency in Addis Ababa Ethiopia by Tewodros Kifle.
In this workshop, the demonstration of basic SMA theory and techniques has been the main focus for teenagers. SMA is one of the earliest forms of animation technique and it is created simply by photographing objects in a sequence and putting the photographs together as frames of moving image to give the objects the illusion of movement. The video soundtrack is made entirely from recordings of library materials and edited in adobe premiere video editing software.

Stop Motion Animation Lab
Workshop Activity at the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design
A stop-motion animation Lab was established at the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design (AAU) in 2020 with support from the Spanish Embassy in Addis Ababa as part of the ACERCA program of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
This lab has become a creative space for students, starting with a workshop led by the talented Spanish stop-motion animator and musician, Coke Riobóo. Since then, the animation lab has been teaching students how to create their own animations, combining both hands-on techniques and digital tools facilitated by Tewodros Kifle. These skills are incorporated into various programs offered at the school, like alternative media or Video Art courses, tailored to match the needs of different courses. The animated clips you see here are the fantastic outputs of the students over time.
